I adopted Chewie at the beginning of February 2025, which means we have been together for one year!
Here’s an early picture from our first week. Chewie looks so little in this photo! At the beginning, we spent a lot of time hanging out and just getting to know each other.

Here is a much more recent photo from yesterday. One of our current projects is injection training.
In the picture, I am using a syringe with a paperclip in it to simulate giving Chewie a shot. Chewie has made a lot of progress, and she is almost ready for her annual vaccines.
(If you are new to Chewie’s Diary, check out Entry 47, our 2025 year in review post.)

Our big recent accomplishment was that Chewie and I submitted an entry for the January 2026 Horse Agility Club’s Young Horses division.
The Horse Agility Club offers a special division each month for horses who are two years old or younger. The course is simpler than the regular leagues, with fewer obstacles and easier tasks.
Chewie and I spent time in January practicing each obstacle individually. I wrote some about our experiences with hula hoops and flags.
For the test, I decided to just do four of the five obstacles. My goal was to keep the course fun and to not worry about our score.
Here’s the video of Chewie and I navigating four obstacles together. I think she did brilliantly and that our horse agility journey is off to a great start. 🙂
