What dog doesn’t love KONG toys? I know that Ginger, plus all of my foster dogs and clients’ dogs love KONG toys. And, if your dog also loves KONG toys, I’ve got a nice surprise for you today!
The lovely folks over at KONG have donated an awesome gift pack of toys and treats for me to give away as part of the Stale Cheerios gift guide and giveaway week. You’ll find the entry form for the giveaway at the bottom of this post.
Why I love KONG
KONG is probably best known for their classic red KONG toy. I’m not sure how I’d describe a KONG to someone who wasn’t familiar with one – it’s like a large red rubber snowman that’s hollow inside! The classic KONG toys is made out of tough rubber, so it’s great for dogs that really like to chew. However, the best part about a classic KONG is that you can stuff it with all sorts of food or treats. This satisfies a dog’s natural desire to lick and chew and can keep your dog busy for quite some time!
For my foster dog Star (pictured to the right), I would take some of her daily kibble, mix it with a bit of canned food, stuff it in a KONG, and freeze it overnight. It would usually take her 30-45 minutes to get all of the food out from inside. This was a great way to keep her busy, since she was a high energy girl and would get bored easily if I didn’t give her enough things to do.

You might not know this, but KONG makes a huge variety of toys, so if the classic KONG isn’t really your dog’s style, there are plenty of other fun options.

What Ginger had to say
Since this is a toy review, Ginger dog definitely wanted to add her two cents! She says she absolutely loves her Squeezz ball and orange KONG Squeezz dumbbell. They make funny squeaky noises and are so fun to chase around the house. There’s even one of the KONG Squeezz balls including in the prize pack, so your dog can try one out too.
What I love about the Squeezz toys is that they are TOUGH! Ginger got one of the Squeezz balls for her birthday and has not managed to destroy it yet. For a medium-sized dog, Ginger is quite talented at destroying things (especially toys that make squeaky noises), so this is pretty remarkable. I’ve always been impressed by the quality and durability of KONG toys. They hold up well for Ginger and other dogs that I know are quite hard on their toys.

My girls have had a kong toy and I have been so impressed by how tough they are! One of my girls is very tough on toys so these are ideal for us!
My adopted English setter mix has the attention span and bodily control of a flea… that is, except when it comes to Kongs! When filled with pumpkin, yogurt, PB, apples, carrots, kibble, etc. and frozen, he actually remains calm and occupied for a whole 45 minutes! I would love to have more so I can always have a frozen one on hand. Thank you!
I have 3 dogs and they love to chew, they also love their toys. It is about time they had some new ones.

My dog loves her Kong & gets a frozen one whenever I leave or she is trying to get 110% of my attention when I have other things I need to do & just devoting 5 or 10 minutes to Angel first didn’t work. I think she would really love the alligator .

My dog loves toys of all kinds. It’s just a matter of find toys she can’t destroy in under 2 minutes.
Kong toys are the perfect dog toy. They keep dogs entertained seeking the treats inside the toy. The perfect holiday gift for two fur babies on my list.
My dog loves his Kong toys. The only way to get out of the house if I ever have a suitcase with me is to give him a frozen Kong full of peanut butter. And he totally destroys one giant Kong Wubba per year, and he’s totally due for a new one!
Honey adores Kong toys. She eats every meal in a large traditional Kong or the Kong wobbler. But some visiting foster pups have destroyed a few of her favorites. So it would be great to replace them.
Our lab would like it because he loves to play with the kids.
