Are you going to ClickerExpo 2013?

Karen Pryor Clicker Training has recently opened the registration for ClickerExpo 2013 and released the schedule of speakers and topics. The schedule looks really exciting. Not only does it look like there are lots of cool new talks, but this is also the 10th anniversary for ClickerExpo, so it’s a big year!

ClickerExpo - Animal Training Expo

As always, there are two Expos, one in January (in San Francisco) and the other in March (in Connecticut). I haven’t decided yet which one to go to. I’ve never been to San Francisco, so that sounds like a lot of fun, but the March one is near my spring break, so it’s probably a bit more convenient.

Are you planning to go to ClickerExpo? If so, let me know, I’d love to meet you! Although I love going to the lectures and labs, one of my favorite parts about ClickerExpo is getting to meet positive animal trainers from all over the world.

Also, if you’re going for the first time, it can be a bit overwhelming since there are SO many talks to choose from. At least, that’s how I felt the first year I went. I’m happy to give recommendations if you are having trouble picking which talks to go to, I helped a few friends with that last year.

If you’re not sure about whether or not to go to ClickerExpo, I encourage you to check out my post 10 reasons why you need to go to ClickerExpo. I also have notes on my blog from a talk by Michele Pouliot that I attended at a past expo, if you want to learn more about what’s covered in some of the lectures.

So, head on over to the ClickerExpo website and check it out!

Hi! Thanks for checking out my blog! I wish they had an expo closer to me, I would love to check that out! I will definitely be looking over your blog, looks like it has a ton of info 🙂 -Allison from Adventures with Shyloh

      Hi Allison,

One of the cool things about clickerExpo is that there are 2 expos every year and they are in a different locations every year. They generally try to have one every year on either the East coast or the West coast. Then, the other expo that year is either on the opposite coast or somewhere in the middle of the country. So, maybe one year there will be one close to you.

      cheers,

      Mary

I’m going to San Francisco and would love to meet you there. I live in Oakland, so the commute to the hotel is rather far and awkward (difficult bridge traffic), but I’m excited nonetheless. I’m thinking of spending one night at the hotel and bringing my pet rats. I’m waiting for the Expo staff to confirm if the hotel would allow it. Wouldn’t it be cool for the conference to report that rats attended? Of course they would stay in the hotel room, but still… 🙂

      Hi Gwen,

Right now I’m leaning toward San Francisco, but still undecided! I’ll let you know when I decide for sure.

I would love to meet you! Also, that would be super cool to have rats at ClickerExpo. 🙂
Mine will have to stay home, since I’m flying.

There was a gal who brought a cat to ClickerExpo several times (it mostly stayed in a baby stroller) but that’s the only non-dog animal that I’ve heard of attending ClickerExpo.

      Hi Ewa,

Very cool! I will also be at the Connecticut Expo. Decided that one would be easier on my schedule than California.

Would love to connect with you and meet in person. That’s one of my favorite parts about the Expo — meeting new friends who are also passionate about positive training.

      cheers,

      Mary
