Ginger needs suggestions for new dog tricks!

Alright, I need your help! I’ve been trying to spend more time training Ginger this fall. I have a project I’m working on with her for school, but I also want to work on more fun tricks. Two weeks ago we started on leg weaves (which are getting pretty good now!) and last weekend I started to teach her to close the kitchen cabinet doors. (So she can be more helpful around the house!)

Here’s a few I’ve thought of to add to our repertoire–
Crawl
Roll Over
Play Dead
Lick Your Lips
Cross Your Paws

So, what’s your favorite dog trick? Do you have any suggestions for fun tricks for Ginger and I to work on this fall? Trick training is great for Ginger and me. It’s good physical and mental exercise for Ginger. And it’s great for improving my shaping and training skills!

High-five is always a fun one.
I just taught Ammo how to bowl http://www.ammothedachshund.com/2010/10/05/strike/

I had started teaching Ammo to stick out his tongue….but never really finished it, I thought that one could be pretty funny when finished.

Thanks Kyley!Ammo’s bowling is adorable. Not sure how Ginger would take to bowling. She is a scaredy cat about things that move suddenly or make sudden noises. Sticking the tongue out sounds like a good trick! She is great at shaking hands, I’ve thought that it would be easy to turn this into a wave or high-five. Mary

If she can retrieve, you can teach her to put laundry in the laundry basket, then from there into the washing machine, then back into the clean-laundry basket.

She can learn to bring in the newspaper and/or the mail.

Pick up stuff and drop it into the waste paper basket.

Do you have Kyra Sundance’s book “101 Dog Tricks – Step-by-Step Activities to Engage, Challenge, and Bond with Your Dog”
