Giddyupflix: Rent Horse DVDs Online

It surprises me how many horse DVD rental services exist. I’ve written in the past about horseflix, but I know of at least several others. These services are like netflix, but with horse training videos. I recently switched from horseflix to giddyupflix.com. So far I’ve been much happier with giddyupflix. The wait times seem about the same. However, the selection is much better, there are no late fees, and I can keep more than just a handful of DVDs in my queue (currently over 20).

I watched a Jason Patrick DVD recently. Towards the end he said “”If you ever get a chance to ride with good horsemen, it doesn’t matter if you agree with everything they do or not, you’ll learn something.” The same applies for watching and listening to good horsemen.

I’ll try to post brief reviews from time to time of some of the DVDs I rent. I love watching a variety of trainers, even if I don’t completely agree with them. There’s always something to be learned from watching different training methods and seeing how the animal responds.

Anyone have suggestions for favorite trainers or interesting DVDs? I’d love to hear your recommendations, you can leave them in the comments section if you like. My biggest interest right now is different approaches to teaching colts and green horses. However, I also enjoy watching high level trainers work on refinement, everything from liberty work to dressage to reining.

I would like to have you try the Lead Change DVD from the new series by Tim McQuay.
    Thank you.

  • Thanks for commenting!

Sounds like an interesting DVD. None of our colts are nearly at the point of working on lead changes, so I probably won't rent that DVD, at least for awhile.

Giddyupflix is fairly inexpensive to join, you might want to consider a membership!

    To Sandra Potter:
The website works fine. I believe the link you were using didn't work because of a mistyped address, there is comma after the www instead of a period.
Same thing happened to me I just changed the comma to a dot and worked. Maybe this will be corrected by the poster soon. Or use the link from comment above.
