Chewie and I have both been traveling recently!
I just returned from a wonderful three days in Chicago for this year’s ClickerExpo conference.

The weekend was filled with lots of learning, as well as opportunities to catch up with old friends and meet many new friends.

I felt honored to give the opening lecture on Friday morning. My talk was on: “Reinforcement Systems: Looking at Reinforcement Under the Microscope.”
I also gave a hands-on session about Reinforcement Systems and had lots of fun staying up late playing PORTL shaping games in the hotel lobby.
I’ll share some ClickerExpo notes over the coming weeks.
Chewie has also been traveling.
About a week ago, she moved to a new pasture, a two-acre field at the front of the property. Unfortunately, she had to leave her buddy, Allie, behind.
Her new pasture mate is a large chestnut quarter horse mare named Twinkle.

At the beginning, Twinkle didn’t want anything to do with Chewie. And, Chewie just wanted to figure out a way to get back to her old pasture.

I felt bad for both of them, as neither of them had chosen this arrangement.
Fortunately, after a few days, Chewie was much more comfortable in the new pasture. And, she and Twinkle started becoming buddies.
The past few mornings, I have seen them grazing together when I arrive at the ranch. And, they are happy to stand next to each other so that I can scratch on both of them at the same time.
With my traveling and Chewie’s traveling, it’s been an eventful week!
I’ll report more on some of our training progress next week.
