We’ve been playing with mats!
I have structured these sessions so that they are exploratory in nature.
I don’t have a concrete goal in mind, other than to provide an interesting, enriching experience while allowing Chewie to interact with something new.

Here’s how the session works. I set up the mats.
Chewie investigates. She sniffs them, stands on them, paws at them, bites them.
Periodically, I rearrange the mats. When I do, Chewie is curious about the new configuration.

If she shows interest in me, I interact with her by picking up or moving a mat.
I also engage with her by scratching all of her itchy spots.
For much of the time, however, she is happy to explore on her own.

We’ve played with the mats three times now, with each session lasting around 10–15 minutes.
It makes me happy to see how bold and curious she is about the mats.
This is one of the reasons why I adopted Chewie. I could tell at the rescue that she was quite brave about new things.
We have also been experimenting with taking selfies!
Don’t you love the polkadot on the end of her nose??
