(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Blu and Flower

Blu - a Husky - Blue Heeler mix v2

Meet Blu!

Blu is a super cute pup that is staying with us this week for some training. She is about eight months old and is part husky and part blue heeler. She was a little shy at first, but quickly warmed up to me.

We have started working on some basic obedience training using clicker training and she is doing great so far! She’ll be working on sit, stay, come, and leash walking with me over the next week.

In other news, Flower the rat is feeling much better and we are having a much less eventful week this week than we did last week! Thank you for all of your nice comments and notes after her surgery last week.

Flower the rat goes running away

Our biggest challenge has been trying to keep her calm and not so active after the surgery. Rats don’t like to sit still for long and she has been a bit disagreeable about this. I’ve been keeping her in a much smaller cage and I can tell that she has quite a bit of extra energy. I finally let her go back into the big cage with Annie today and she was pretty happy about that. They were curled up together in the hammock this afternoon.

I was doing some tidying today and the box with all of the goodies from Cloud Star was sitting on the couch. In the picture above, you can see that Flower was pretty sure that the box and the yummy treats inside were just for her! Luckily, I was able to catch her and move the box before she actually got into the box and started chowing down.

We probably won’t be back with another post until this weekend. So, I hope that you, your family, and all of your furry friends have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Sure looks like Flower is feeling pretty darn good. That is good. Good for you to do animal training, Thanks so much for visiting our blog. I used to have a horse business, boarding, teaching and having horse shows. Now I am old and just have two miniature donkeys that are terrific. Good to meet you. Happy Thanksgiving.

That’s super fun that you have two mini donkeys. I’ve done quite a bit of training with horses in the past, although I’m not doing much of it currently.

(And don’t tell the horses, but I probably like the donkeys and mules just as much, or even better than the horses! The long ears can be so sweet, smart, and full of personality.)

This is my first time coming to your blog and it sounds so interesting. Surgery on a rat, dog training. Sounds like an amazing place to me! Can’t wait to read more about your adventures.

Blu and flower are both adorable! We had a pet hamster a few years ago and have a Maltese bichon now – pets are great for the home! They bring so much joy (and yes sometimes stress! Lol)

I never thought of a rat as pet but it sure is cute. I thought it was a guinea pig at first. We had one before at my home town. 🙂
