October has been a busy month.
I’ve been preoccupied with some work projects. In addition, moving Chewie and getting her settled at the new barn has taken quite a bit of time.
We haven’t done a whole lot of formal training this month.
My main goal for October has been to help Chewie feel comfortable and happy at the new barn and to gradually introduce her to her new buddy, Liberty. (If you missed it, last week’s post was all about introducing Chewie and Liberty.)
One thing that we have been doing is lots of enrichment activities!
Chewie has been having fun playing with her puzzle ball and snuffle mat. But, I’ve also introduced her to several new enrichment toys, including a Kong Wobbler.

The Kong Wobbler is a sturdy, hard-plastic dog toy.
It can be unscrewed, making it easy to insert food inside the toy. The base of the toy is weighted. When Chewie pushes it, it rocks back and forth and moves around, but the toy always comes back to an upright position.
Chewie figured out how to use the Kong Wobbler almost immediately!
It’s a bit of a different experience from her puzzle ball because the Kong Wobbler makes unpredictable movements as she pushes it with her nose.
I’ve been filling it with a small pellet so that the pellets come out fairly easily. (It’s a low-starch / low-sugar feed called Stabul 1). Once she has more experience with this toy, I should be able to increase the difficulty level by using a larger pellet.
Here’s a short video clip of Chewie playing with her Kong wobbler. Enjoy!
